A closer look

Setting up gear in a server cabinet goes slowly when hardware binds on the rail. We press these nuts from heat treated carbon steel so the spring wings snap into square cutouts without bending out of shape. The screws start by hand and thread straight into the nut bodies.

• Spring steel wings. The cage nuts flex enough to seat into square rail cutouts without popping loose when gear presses against them. The steel body stays seated behind the rail face while you line up equipment ears.
• Clean screw threads. Treated carbon steel threads bite cleanly without binding halfway into the nut. You can start the machine screws with your fingers to catch the thread before reaching for a driver.
• Self locking ties. The included nylon ties bundle patch cables and power cords along the rail uprights. The internal teeth catch firmly to keep hanging cable weight off the rear panel connectors.
• Matching rail hardware. Check that your cabinet uses square punch rails rather than pre threaded holes before setting up. These nuts fit into standard square cutouts found on common rack frames.
