A closer look
Changing a watch band usually goes wrong when the tiny pin catches the lug or slips across the desk. We cut the ends of this tool from stainless steel to grab the collar of a pin squarely, so the spring compresses instead of launching across your workspace. Extra tips thread into the ends when a point wears.
- Stainless steel tips. The fork and pin ends are turned from stainless steel. They seat directly into the shoulder of the spring bar, giving you enough grip to ease the pin out without scraping the inside of the watch lug.
- Textured grip surface. We cut a textured pattern directly into the metal body. Your fingers stay planted close to the working tip when you press inward against the spring, which keeps the tool from skating sideways across the case.
- Removable threaded ends. Both ends screw out of the body when a tip bends or dulls. You can replace the working point without replacing the whole tool, and silicone caps slide over the points when you set the piece down.
- Assorted strap pins. A selection of stainless steel spring bars comes with the tool for fitting different band widths. Check the maker list beside this text to match the lug width of your watch case before you start.
